The Institute of Law is delighted to announce the appointment of Miceál Barden as Chief Executive Officer and Dean. He will start in the role on 14 February 2022.
Miceál comes to the Institute from his current role as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business, and Social Sciences at the University of Wolverhampton, with direct oversight of the Business and Law Schools, among other departments. Before this, he spent seven years as Head of Manchester Law School at Manchester Metropolitan University. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Miceál has over 30 years of experience in Higher Education and has taught Law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at six different Universities in the United Kingdom.
Following early experience as a researcher with the Human Rights Commission in Northern Ireland and the Law Commission for England and Wales, Miceál started teaching Law and has considerable experience in curriculum development and validation of law programmes as well as being an experienced external examiner.

I look forward to working alongside the excellent team locally and using my experience in legal education to further enhance the programmes and stature of the Institute, and guarantee its status as the leading offshore centre for legal learning.”
