The Jersey and Guernsey Law Review (originally founded as the Jersey Law Review in 1997), exists to promote “the development of the laws of Jersey and Guernsey and the encouragement of interest therein.” It contains articles on a wide variety of subjects that will be of interest beyond the Channel Islands not only to lawyers and judges of other jurisdictions but also to students of comparative law.
It has been published in paper form for 28 years. With effect from 2025, through the Institute of Law, Jersey, it will be published only electronically, in February, June and October as before. A bound paper volume of the complete year will continue, however, to be produced and will be available to most subscribers at no extra charge. The electronic copy will be fully searchable by February 2025. Subscribers will also have access to the 2024 issues.
Subscriptions will be available for individuals and bodies corporate, with or without the bound volume. These will be personal to the subscriber and should not be the subject of further circulation.
Subscriptions will also be available to law firms, Chambers and other institutions outside Jersey and Guernsey at a corporate rate which will include the ability to circulate the issue within the organisation.
In a similar arrangement to that involving the Jersey Legal Information Board, Channel Island law firms will also be able to subscribe at a corporate rate reflecting the number of fee earners employed. A subscription by such a firm will also enable the circulation of the issues to all employees within the firm free of charge. A single subscription will cover all employees of Channel Island firms based in both Bailiwicks. The subscription will also entitle the firm to have access to the Jersey and Guernsey Law Review from 2024 onwards – only abstracts of the articles will be published on the Jersey Legal Information Board website www.jerseylaw.je
