Being an international student in Jersey I was worried that I would struggle to find my place and fit in at the university. Luckily, I was wrong, all the staff were very welcoming and accepting of everyone. They are incredibly polite, respectful and always willing to help. They are always happy to answer any questions I might have to the best of their ability and encourage us to ask questions to ensure that we understand the work. They also have no problem explaining things again if you are still unsure until you get it. They will always find a way to make sure that you do not feel lost in the work.

I also feel more at ease as I have made very good friends here at the Institute of Law which has made the move here much easier for me and pleasant. Having friends that you study with just makes the journey feel much quicker and it is nice to have their support as they can relate to what you are going through and vice versa. It is a diverse environment amongst the students which makes it easier for everyone to find a place to fit in which is great as it can be quite daunting at first when you do not know anyone.

The course itself is a lot of reading, and some topics can be more challenging than others, but by putting more effort and work in it makes it easier for yourself so you should try and stay on top of the work from the beginning so you do not get left behind and so that you are able to keep up in class and understand the new work. In my first year so far I have done one set of formative assessments, I am about to do the second in preparation for the final exams with the University of London, but the feedback that I have gotten from the first set has been very helpful, pointing out what I have done well but also highlighting the areas that I should work on which is very valuable information to help me study ahead of the final exams. They also offer student support, mentoring and individual tutorials to make sure that you have a wide variety of resources available at your request which is very helpful.
